Things to Do in the Inland Empire PDF Print E-mail

Looking for places to go, things to see in the Inland Empire?  We’ve compiled a list of suggestions – some are events, some go on yearlong.  There are alternatives to sitting around watching TV or playing on the computer.  Get out and have some fun!

Chino

  • Attend the annual Planes of Fame Air Show held at the Chino Airport.  Chino is home to a regional airport. Currently, the airport is looking into expanding. Bored? Consider taking airplane or helicopter flying lessons.
  • Visit the Planes of Fame Museum, a non-profit aviation museum dedicated to restoring, collecting and preserving aircraft and memorabilia. The museum currently houses more than 150 aircraft. The museum is open every day, except Thanksgiving and Christmas, from 9 to 5. General admission: $11, children 11 and under: $4, children under 5: free.
  • Get back to nature at Prado Park. With over 2,000 acres, visitors can fish, horseback ride, bird watch, feed the geese, archery and go target shooting—the range was the site for the 1984 Olympics. If there is too much to do in one day, camp! Facilities are available. Entry fees exist to get into the park; be sure to check their site or call them at 909597-4260 for the most current fees. El Prado has two public, 18-hole championship golf courses: El Prado Gold Course, Butterfield Stage Course and El Prado Golf Course, Chino Creek Course.

Chino Hills

  • Take a weekend hike in nearby Chino Hills State Park, where you might catch a glimpse of a Golden Eagle, Red Tailed Hawk, or bobcat.
  • Golf at the Los Serranos Golf & Country Club. According to their Web site, they are in the process of building a kid’s course where young golfers can play for free.
  • The place for shopping in Chino Hills is, appropriately named, at The Shoppes at Chino Hills. During the fall, The Shoppes show Free movies every Friday evening beginning at dusk. It’s recommended to bring lawn chairs and blankets for comfortable seating.

Corona

  • Corona Heritage Park & Museum  It’s free! Bring a picnic lunch and tour the museum to acquaint yourself with Corona’s history.  The museum and park are open from 10-2, Tuesday through Saturday.
  • The Promenade Shops at Dos Lagos offers a great selection of high-end stores.  The shopping center also offers a slew of events and movie theaters.

Eastvale

Lake Elsinore

  • If motocross is your game, try the Lake Elsinore Motocross Park
  • Or, if you prefer throwing yourself out of a plane, try Skydive Elsinore to get your thrills.
  • If you are more of a low-key shopper looking for a deal, then The Lake Elsinore Outlets are for you.
  • Be sure to enjoy a baseball game with the Lake Elsinore Storm minor league feeder team for the San Diego Padres.  Minor League baseball is the best kept secret--$10 gets you a preferred box seat at the Diamond Stadium.

San Bernardino Mountains

  • Lake Gregory Regional Park offers fishing, swimming, picknicking, horse riding and looping water slides.  Paddle boats are available for renting on the North Shore, while other boat rentals are available April through October.  Lake Gregory is a private lake, so public boat launching is not allowed.  Be sure to check the Lake Gregory Regional Park fee schedule (fees are nominal) before visiting.
  • Oktoberfest starts in September and runs through October in Lake Arrowhead Village.  This free event is a fun escape for families, offering German bands, food and, of course, beer.  Big Bear also holds an Oktoberfest from mid-September through the end of October.  Prices are reasonably priced from $6 to no more than $12, discounts are available for children and seniors.
  • Take a drive to Big Bear and visit their Moonridge Animal Park.  They are open daily if the weather is good.  Be sure to call ahead, 909-878-4200.  Prices range from $9 to $6.
  • Then, of course, there’s skiing offered by Bear Mountain Ski Resort, Big Bear Mountain Resorts, Ski Big Bear, and the Bavarian Lodge Ski and Tennis Resort.
